Our thoughts are with Ukrainian colleagues suffering a terrible assault by Russian forces.
Here’s our branch’s message of support in response to the 30,000 Russian tech workers who’ve bravely signed this statement against the war.
To Russian IT workers,
We send you solidarity greetings in this awful time for Ukraine and for Russian society. We recognise that the vast majority of Russians are against Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. We have watched the hundreds of protests that have been suppressed, with thousands of people detained. We support your demand for an end to military operations.
At this time it important to recognise that our economies are built by millions of workers like ourselves, with the knowledge, skills and effort we use to create products and services, across industries and sectors, and across borders. We are encouraged by the 30,000 workers in the Russian IT sector that want to make their protest heard and we will do what we can within our branch, union and industry to mobilize more support in the coming days and weeks.

Мы передаем наши приветствия солидарности в это ужасное для Украины и для российского общества время. Мы понимаем, что подавляющее большинство россиян против вторжения Путина в Украину. Мы видели кадры силовых мер против сотен протестующих и задержания тысяч людей. Мы поддерживаем ваше требование о прекращении военных действий.
В настоящее время важно признать, что наши экономики держатся на миллионах таких же работников, как вы, благодаря чьим знаниям, навыкам и усилиям создаются товары и услуги в разных отраслях и секторах, а также за границами отдельных государств. Нас воодушевляет, что 30 тысяч работников российского ИТ-сектора хотят, чтобы их протест был услышан, и мы сделаем все возможное в рамках нашего филиала, профсоюза и отрасли, чтобы мобилизовать больше поддержки в ближайшие дни и недели.
